The Rose Melnick Medical Museum houses approximately 10,000 articles that chronicle the history and practice of medicine, dentistry, nursing, and pharmacy from the 1700s to the present. The collections consist of instruments, artifacts, and equipment; rare books, special collections, and archival materials; and microscope slide collections. There is also a small collection of anatomical specimens. The collections mostly document the history and practice of American medicine with a particular focus on the Mahoning Valley (Trumbull, Mahoning, and Columbiana Counties).

The collections are available for research by serious scholars and researchers. Research opportunities are available by appointment only. Please refer to our Research Policies and Procedures before requesting the use of our collections. A selection of materials are also available online in our searchable database using the university's digital repository software at http://dspace.maag.ysu.edu.

The Museum actively seeks and accepts donations of medical artifacts and research materials. For additional information on our collecting policies or to make a donation to the Museum please refer to our Collection Development Policy.
