Through a combination of textual information, photographs and graphics, and a variety of interesting and unusual artifacts, this exhibit tells the story of medicine in the Mahoning Valley (Mahoning, Trumbull, and Columbiana Counties). It presents the early physicians and those from the area who changed the course of medicine both locally and nationally. The history of the area's numerous health care facilities and nursing schools are also told through historic photographs and artifacts. Visitors will also learn the story of the local medical community's role (including the local Red Cross Chapter) in the First and Second World Wars and the contributions of the the local medical societies to the history of medicine in the Mahoning Valley.
